Ten teams took part in the competition for the tallest traditional Easter palm. The entries were assessed by a jury consisting of Anna Bober, Bożena Jędrzejczyk and Iwona Bojko. The competition committee decided to award seven main prizes and three distinctions.
Members of the “Bolesławiec” Song and Dance Ensemble prepared the tallest and most traditional palm (11.77 m), while the most original one (referring to the city’s ceramic traditions) was made by students of Lower Secondary School No. 3.
Prizes for artistic qualities were awarded to palms made by students of Primary School No. 2, residents of the District Youth Sociotherapy Centre in Iwiny, and participants of Occupational Therapy Workshops.
The palm prepared by the “Carpe Diem” Teachers’ Club won a prize “for its traditional character, the materials used, its colour scheme and the way the flowers were made”, while the palm made by students of the Second Private Lower Secondary School was awarded “for the work put into it and its artistic qualities”.
The jury also gave distinctions to palms prepared by participants of the District Complex of Special Schools and Institutions, students of Primary School No. 4, and the work created at the Municipal Culture and Sports Centre in Gromadka.
The palms were installed on masts in Piłsudskiego Square. They can be viewed until the end of the Easter holidays.
