The matter was raised during the August session of the Bolesławiec City Council. The head of the Szare Szeregi Scout District in Bolesławiec, Scoutmaster Joanna Sawicka, presented the profile of the late Scoutmaster Hubert Bonin.
The scouting community—as Scoutmaster Zdzisław Abramowicz, a Bolesławiec Land councillor, once said during a City Council session—wanted to honor H. Bonin by naming one of the streets after him. After talking with local-government officials, the scouts concluded that they would have to wait until a new street was built in the City of Ceramics. So they came up with a better idea: why not name after Hubert Bonin the park that was never actually Waryński Park? (Especially since the Bolesławiec scout district headquarters were once located in that park.)
“I feel that I was raised by Hubert Bonin, although I was never in his troop,” Zdzisław Abramowicz said during Wednesday’s Bolesławiec City Council meeting.
Mayor Piotr Roman emphasized that he supports the idea. The Municipal Commune will prepare a draft resolution naming the municipal park on Tyrankiewiczów Street after Scoutmaster Bonin.
“I had the honor of meeting Scoutmaster Bonin when I was already holding important positions in Bolesławiec,” P. Roman recalled. “I cannot imagine a less controversial person whom we could honor in this way.
What do you think? We will return to the subject.
