Clothing
First of all: jeans are always fashionable and always high on the list of essentials, which makes sense because jeans go with almost everything. This year, it’s all about colourful jeans. Red, blue, purple and green are just some of the fabulous colours that will delight your child.
Graphic-print tops are always a hot trend when going back to school, but this year it’s all about positive messages. Clothing featuring emotions will be another strong accent. Iconography is a trend that has already lasted for a second season. Smiley faces and unicorns can be found on sweaters, T-shirts and even jeans.
Shoes
The most important part of every child’s outfit is their shoes. Shoes that are too tight, too loose, too narrow or too wide can damage growing feet, potentially causing problems even in adulthood.
Because children’s feet grow so quickly, you should measure their feet every time you buy them new shoes, especially school shoes, which they will probably wear more than any other pair. In fact, it is estimated that the average child will take one million steps in them.
When it comes to this, it is worth choosing branded footwear from reputable brands such as Adidas, Nike or Puma. They are as attractive as they are durable, and we can be sure that their construction ensures wearing comfort. The latest Puma models feature the Soft Foam system, while Adidas models use Cloudfoam—a soft insole that remembers the shape of the foot. These features minimise heat retention to ensure walking comfort and also include an odour-resistant coating to keep feet fresh.
Backpack
Backpacks can have a significant impact on the health of children’s growing and developing bodies. What is more, a heavy or poorly fitted backpack can affect a child’s musculoskeletal health—both today and in the future. It is time to learn a few guiding principles to prepare your child for school while keeping their health in mind.
A backpack should weigh 10 to 15 percent of a child’s body weight.
The weight of the bag should be distributed evenly across the back. The greater the spread of the load, the lower the strain on the body.
Make sure your child wears both shoulder straps. Carrying a backpack on one shoulder can cause them to lean to one side, which over time can curve the spine.
Adjust the straps so that the backpack fits snugly against the upper body. The farther the backpack is from the body, the more difficult it is to achieve proper balance.
A backpack with separate compartments helps position its contents most effectively.
The shoulder straps should be adjustable so that the backpack can be fitted to the child’s body.
