During Glina Show, we want to recreate the process of producing Bolesławiec stoneware: casting a shape in liquid clay, painting and firing. That is why Glina Show has three elements: painting oneself with clay, coloring with multicolored powders, and a fire-walking workshop symbolizing the firing of ceramic vessels.
For those willing and brave, we have prepared an exceptional experience: walking barefoot over fire. We are waiting for you on Friday, August 17, at the Glina Show town on Bankowa Street after 8:00 p.m.
Walking over fire is an excellent opportunity to confront the elements and, consequently, to overcome the fear that limits us, break through barriers imposed by the mind, and realize that we are capable of taking on ever-new challenges. Workshop participants will be able to go beyond the boundaries set by biology, overcome their fear of the elements, and walk barefoot across a fiery carpet made of embers, whose temperature is approximately 600°C. Without pain or any harm to health.
The history of fire walking
The Roman scholar Pliny the Younger described with amazement famous Roman families whose members, during annual ceremonies of offering sacrifices to Apollo, walked painlessly over glowing coals. Thanks to this, they were released from military service and other compulsory duties. Fire walking was also known in North Africa, where it was treated as a symbol of spiritual purification. In Tahiti, walking over solidified volcanic lava at a temperature of 600°C has been practiced for centuries.
Safety
Walking over fire is completely safe for participants provided they follow the rules explained by the instructor. In approximately 5% of cases, small individual blisters appear on the feet; they disappear quickly and in no way diminish the satisfaction of the experience. Anyone can walk over fire. ATTENTION! Participants in fire walking must not be under the influence of alcohol.
Psychological benefits
A person who undergoes this experience convinces themselves that they are capable of doing something they previously considered impossible. They begin to believe that they are also capable of overcoming other difficulties.
Physical benefits
Contact between bare feet and heated coals stimulates the appropriate acupressure points. During the exercise, the feet repeatedly come into contact with small
coals at temperatures of approximately 400–700 degrees. All receptors are strongly stimulated, which helps relieve minor ailments, such as a runny nose. It produces vitality and good humor.
The fire-walking workshop and the Glina Show project are co-financed by the funds of the Marshal's Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
