Gabriel Karaszewski, a 7-year-old from Bolesławiec, took part from 10 to 12 August in a chess marathon consisting of a rapid chess tournament (11 rounds) and a blitz chess tournament (13 rounds). (The competitions, held at Centennial Hall in Wrocław, were part of the Polish Junior Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships.)
Gabryś competed in the youngest chess players’ group – under 8. In rapid chess, he became the Polish runner-up (out of 102 competitors), while in blitz chess he finished 10th (out of 82 competitors).
