For two hours on the first day of spring, we approached people and encouraged them to say that what our city is like depends on us. Hence the powerful statement: “I am the mayor of Bolesławiec.” These three spoken words were intended to make people feel that they have an influence on reality and power.
Saturday’s happening was also a protest against passivity and the common opinion that whatever we do, we have no influence on anything anyway. Because that is a lie.
On the first day of spring, Mayor Piotr Roman himself was walking through the Market Square. He made a kind, springtime gesture toward us. He came over and said that he liked the idea. Greetings to the city’s only mayor :)
At the end of the action, we delighted a dozen or so children by handing out balloons.
