The comic was available in our newspaper from March 2010. At that time, we did not encourage children to color in the drawings. The comic depicted the mayoral campaign in Bolesławiec. We commented humorously on the candidates’ actions and the course of the campaign’s early stages.
It will certainly be interesting to note that in 2010 unemployment in Bolesławiec was an important election issue. Today, the only problem is wages, because workers are extremely scarce and large companies in the industrial zones compete for every person. What remains relevant, however, is candidates opening streets and sidewalks, as well as the fact that we have pothole-ridden roads. That has not changed.
There is also one drawing that we can successfully publish today: a tug-of-war, with a new candidate on one side and, on the other, a priest and a pensioner standing behind a candidate displaying a victory sign. This is the real force every new candidate has to contend with—and so far, each has fallen.
Candidates for mayor in 2010
Do you remember the candidates for mayor in 2010? And the results of Bogdan Nowak and Dariusz Kwaśniewski? Two candidates with great hopes? Two who were supposed to compete with Piotr Roman in the second round, which never took place.
For the second time in Bolesławiec’s history, we organized an exit poll as a portal, that is, a survey among people who had cast their votes in the election. We surveyed nearly 1,200 residents of Bolesławiec. The results we obtained matched the official results announced later exactly.
