The mayor applied to the Lower Silesian voivode to appoint a committee to assess damage to farms in Nowogrodziec gmina. As we read on the website of the Nowogrodziec Municipal Office:

Damage assessment for farmers is carried out exclusively on the basis of a field inspection, meaning that applications to estimate losses from crops already harvested from fields will not be considered.

A farmer whose crops were damaged outside our gmina is required to submit an application for damage assessment to each gmina in whose territory the damage occurred.

Officials add:

A mandatory attachment to the application is a copy of the application for direct payments for agricultural land for 2018, submitted to ARiMR.

Application and statement forms—under items 7, 8 and 9—can be found on the website of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Office.

Does the problem affect only farmers from Nowogrodziec?

No. According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as of 4 July this year, 42,000 farms across the country have been affected by drought, while crops have been destroyed across more than 781,000 hectares, including at least 70% of the crops across 18,000 hectares, reported portalsamorzadowy.pl.

By Wednesday, 1,359 committees had been appointed to assess losses in agricultural crops, of which 1,326 were actively working.

According to the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation, drought is still occurring throughout Poland. The lack of sufficient water is affecting spring and winter cereal crops, as well as leguminous plants, the most.
