Marcin Zabawa: Let us go back one year. It is June 2017. Coach Tomasz Fulczyński has resigned from coaching the BKS senior team, and you become the coach. How did that happen?
Sebastian Tylutki: In football, one year ago is a distant past. I do not know whether I was the only candidate, but I had already been receiving indications that people were interested in me.
So you accepted the offer to coach BKS. Did you think about it for long?
After speaking with President Michał Lis, I practically agreed immediately. The vision for the club’s development, a fresh perspective and a shared “language” made me want to be part of this project called BKS Bolesławiec. I think the foundations are already in place, but we still need to develop and work harder.
Originally, you were supposed to lead the BKS team in Class A and win promotion to the regional league. However, when Raciborowice withdrew from the competition, BKS took their place and was promoted to the regional league from second place. So now there is the regional league—what are the plans? To keep the team in this division?
After the club from Raciborowice withdrew from the competition, the DZPN regulations worked in our favor, and one day before the start of the competition we were a league higher. Many people did not believe in us, but I knew the team had great potential; the pieces just had to be put together. The team’s goal was always to play for three points, which led us to the Fourth Division.
I admit that I am greatly impressed that BKS reached the Fourth Division after just one season in the regional league, playing with its own local players and thanks to your work as coach. What is the recipe for such a rapid promotion? Who contributed to it? How is it done?
The players became convinced of and accepted my training methods, which was visible during the sessions. Despite their many professional and family responsibilities, they worked really hard, and I have enormous respect for them for that. There is no ready-made recipe for success, especially in football, where many factors determine the outcome of a match. But if you do not work very hard, develop your skills and play at 100 percent, you cannot expect good results. I would also like to thank assistant coach Mariusz Rutkowski for his commitment.
And now we have promotion and the Fourth Division, so what next? What about the squad? Is there already a preparation schedule, including friendly matches? Can you reveal anything? What is the plan for the Fourth Division?
The club’s philosophy is not changing. We will compete in the Fourth Division with the players who won promotion, and talented juniors will also join us. I think we could be the dark horse of the competition on one condition: work, work and more work. We begin training on July 17, and we have three friendly matches scheduled.
On behalf of BKS Bolesławiec supporters and fans, I wish you success, and we are eagerly awaiting the start of the Fourth Division season. Thank you for the brief conversation.
Thank you.
