On Saturday, March 7, the finals of the Polish Junior Olympic Taekwondo Championships were held in Borne Sulinowo (West Pomeranian Voivodeship). Nearly 140 athletes from across Poland took part in the tournament. Krzysztof Jasiński, representing the Ilyo Bolesławiec Students’ Sports Club, was the clear favorite. The defending champion dominated his rivals, winning every bout before the time limit.
The final bout was the most dramatic. In the first round, Krzysztof’s opponent managed to build a five-point lead. However, in the second round, the Bolesławiec athlete made up the deficit and knocked out his rival just before the end of the round.
Our athlete will now compete in Class A tournaments, including the German Open and Spanish Open, which will be the Polish junior national team’s final test before the European Championships. Meanwhile, UKS Ilyo athletes will soon compete in the qualifiers for the Polish Youth Championships and in the Polish Cadet Championships as part of the National Youth Olympics.
