Zbigniew Razik, an honorary citizen of Bolesławiec and an activist of the legendary Solidarity movement, shared on his Facebook profile a post by historian Mariusz Olczak, who reported that an NSZZ “Solidarity” tapestry from Bolesławiec had been displayed in the permanent exhibition at the historic BHP Hall of the Gdańsk Shipyard. M. Olczak’s profile states:
A symbolic memento from the imprisonment in Strzelin of Zbigniew Razik, a well-known activist of Bolesławiec’s Solidarity movement in the 1980s, has been displayed as an exhibit in the permanent exhibition at the Health and Safety Hall. I recommended this location, firstly because of its unique symbolism, and secondly because the strength of NSZZ “Solidarity” in Gdańsk and other major centers also resulted from the strength of these sometimes small cells of the underground Solidarity movement, including in the district town of Bolesławiec. In small centers without the anonymity of large cities, major demonstrations, printing presses, universities, foreign correspondents, and so on, it was much more difficult to operate within the underground Solidarity movement.
More about the tapestry can be found on the Tygodnik Solidarność website.
