Students under the care of the Powiat Complex of Schools and Special-Education Institutions and preschoolers from Bolesławiec are taking part in the “Birds of Malta” project. The matter is serious because, as the dziennik.pl website reported several years ago:

As many as three million migratory birds die every year in traditional hunts over Malta. Polish species are also caught in traps and shot, even though European regulations prohibit this. The spring phase of the mass slaughter has just begun.

Spring hunts for migratory birds are an age-old tradition in Malta. It is estimated that 12,000 people take part in the practice every year.

Children from the City of Ceramics draw Polish birds that fly to Malta for the winter. The drawings are sent to young Maltese children. As Sylwia Marcinko-Kozik, head of the Bolesławiec special school, explains, the aim is that when children in Malta notice a bird that has flown from Poland, they will let it return to us.

The project will be summarized at the end of the school year. We will return to the subject.
