Karol Stasik, the Bolesławiec county governor, referred during Thursday’s County Council session to the voivode’s decision to change the name of II Armii Wojska Polskiego Street to General Nil Street. (We reported on this yesterday).

“While there may be reservations about the II Armia Wojska Polskiego, the situation is different in the case of its soldiers, who fought for their homeland,” K. Stasik stressed. He added that the Bolesławiec County Board wants to ask Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman to name a street or a square “Soldiers of the II Armia Wojska Polskiego.” At the same time, he stressed that officials would not protest against the decision of voivode Paweł Hreniak, because “General Nil is a worthy figure.”
