Krzysztof Gwizdała invited the only woman elected to the 7th-term council to “Studio Bolesławiec.” In the 5th-term city council (2006–2010), there were 4 women: Irena Dul, Małgorzata Goleńska, Janina Piestrak-Babijczuk and Ewa Ołenicz-Bernacka. At the same time, the laziest councillors with the highest number of absences were men: Dominik Chodyra, Bogusław Nowak and Józef Burniak.
There were already only two women on the 6th-term City Council in 2010–2014: Renata Fredyk and Janina Piestrak-Babijczuk. In 2014, however, the residents of Bolesławiec no longer elected Janina, who had seemed unsinkable for years, to the county council. She was the woman who always stood beside the mayor at all official appearances. Now the well-known doctor does not want to speak publicly about her work on the council or advocate for women in local government.
Renata Fredyk, who currently serves in city government, believes that women have more household responsibilities than men and therefore do not work for the benefit of residents and the city.
– During the periods before the holidays, my colleagues on the council do not worry about shopping or preparing the home for the holidays, says Renata Fredyk in the interview.
