Gliniada had been organized only twice (in 2007 and 2008), yet it has already won an award from the Lower Silesian Tourist Organization (DOT). Bolesławiec’s “Gliniada” took first place in the “Most Interesting Tourist Attraction in the Region – Event or Function” category, jointly with the International Horned Sled Rally in Kowary.
“We are very happy. It is a tremendous satisfaction and joy for us, the culmination of our work, and motivation for further activities,” says Justyna Rutkowska-Talar, president of “Via Sudetica”.
“Gliniada” is an event involving the painting of human bodies with clay. Living clay sculptures dancing in the streets of Bolesławiec pay tribute to our region’s ceramic traditions. Both young and older people take part in the clay parade. There are women with clay umbrellas, a living clay horse, and men riding clay bicycles. In addition to being fun, the parade aims to promote the city. “Gliniada” has become an important part of Bolesławiec’s events calendar because it is not only a parade, but also includes workshops, performances, concerts, lectures and competitions.
The most important part of last year’s “Gliniada” was the first real wedding in the history of the Clay People. The exceptional ceremony was covered by Poland’s largest nationwide media outlets, including TVP, Polsat and TVN.
The “Gliniada” is organized by the “Via Sudetica” Association, which brings together people and entrepreneurs committed to the development of Bolesławiec. “Gliniada” was conceived as a way to revitalize the “Ceramics Festival” organized by the city authorities.
From the beginning, the IstotneInformacje.pl portal has been the exclusive media patron of “Gliniada”.
