The tenant of one of the farms in Tomaszów Bolesławiecki (Warta Bolesławiecka commune) was raising several thousand pigs. The animals were kept in horrific conditions. The pigs were dirty. No one cleaned up their excrement; the build-up made it difficult for the mammals to move around. The pens were overcrowded.
The District Veterinary Inspectorate in Bolesławiec notified the prosecutor’s office of the possibility that a crime had been committed. After investigating the case, prosecutors filed an indictment against the aforementioned tenant with the court. He faces up to two years in prison.
