In an interview with Kazimierz Marczewski of Bolec.Info, Dr. Piotr Lenartowicz, the new head of the Emergency Department at the Bolesławiec ZOZ, addressed the critical remarks being made about the department’s operation. “It is about the collision between dreams and reality,” he said. “Each of us thinks that the Emergency Department will be like in the American TV series ‘ER’: you walk in immediately, 30 people immediately take care of you, diagnostics are carried out immediately, the patient is immediately cured and immediately, happy and smiling, leaves the hospital.
“Reality is what it is,” the department head explained. “A patient staying in the Emergency Department often does not realize how long even diagnostics take. Or that behind the door there are 6–8 patients who need to be attended to more urgently. As paramedics say, the Emergency Department is the only place where you should not envy anyone their place in the queue.
The doctor added that the Bolesławiec Emergency Department is very well equipped. “Here I would like to pay tribute to my predecessor, Dr. Nikolaj Lambrinow, who, with the help of European Union funds, carried out very substantial purchases, thanks to which our equipment matches that of every hospital emergency department in Europe.
Lenartowicz also mentioned the Emergency Department staff: “It is an excellent team that works with great commitment. These are people who continually develop their qualifications, are highly educated and work hard to treat all patients in the best way available.
