The Bolesławiec Cultural Center – International Ceramics Center organized a concert to mark the 99th anniversary of Poland regaining independence. Five Bolesławiec choirs performed at the concert: the University of the Third Age choir, conducted by Dorota Straburzyńska; the Association of Repatriates from Bosnia, Their Descendants and Friends choir, conducted by Barbara Lendzian; Kamerton of the State Music School, 1st Degree, conducted by Aleksander Samostrokov; Voce d'Argento, conducted by Dorota Pińczuk; and Canatate Deo, conducted by Aleksander Samostrokov. The president welcomed the many people gathered in the Basilica.
“Today in Bolesławiec, the 99th anniversary of regaining independence, is filled with numerous events,” said Piotr Roman. “We began the celebrations with Holy Mass and are ending them once again in a church. We wondered how the Bolesławiec community would receive our proposal, but the attendance shows that it is going well. Today’s concert was organized by the Bolesławiec Cultural Center – International Ceramics Center, but we also thank the host who welcomed us so warmly to the Basilica, Rev. Prelate Andrzej Jarosiewicz. Today’s concert is not only a performance by five Bolesławiec choirs; it is also an invitation to sing together. The ‘Niepodległa to My’ project shows us that it is precisely we, successive generations, who build and create our homeland. We also owe a debt to those who died fighting for independence. We are grateful and obliged to make Poland increasingly better and more beautiful, and Bolesławiec within it,” the president concluded.
The most moving moment of the show was singing five popular songs together with the audience: White Roses, Red Poppies on Monte Cassino, Little War, Little War, The Willows Rustled and Wept, and Barka.
Before the concert, the Cavalry Association named after the 6th Kaniow Lancers Regiment presented itself on the green square in the Market Square. In full uniform, carrying lances and on horseback, the following took part: association founder Grzegorz Jankowski and Andrzej Peter, riding Shinobi and Gryf from the Gryf Foundation’s Stable.
