The matter of the county hospital in Bolesławiec was discussed during Wednesday’s press conference by Deputy Starost Tomasz Gabrysiak. The deputy of Karol Stasik recalled that in September—by decision of the County Council—PLN 1.8 million was set aside for this purpose. This is the own contribution needed for the ZOZ and officials to apply for funding for the construction and equipping of the operating theatre.

“The hospital intends to submit several applications for funding this investment in the near future,” T. Gabrysiak said. “I will not hide the fact that it is a difficult task because of its value. We estimate that the costs of constructing and equipping the operating theatre will significantly exceed PLN 10 million. Even with the County’s support, the hospital is unable to finance such an investment.

However, a glimmer of hope has appeared. “The Polish government has reached an agreement with the Norwegian government. Finally, the next edition of the so-called Norwegian funds will be launched,” the deputy starost stressed. (It is worth noting that municipalities in our county have already applied for funding from this fund—and successfully. The Bolesławiec Cultural Centre—International Ceramics Centre is an example.)

The County will seek to obtain money from cross-border funds and the Regional Operational Programme. “But we are awaiting the first calls under the Norwegian funds with great hope,” Tomasz Gabrysiak added. These are expected to begin at the start of 2018. We will return to this matter.
