Physical specifications of the models

The smartphone models presented by the Korean manufacturer are very similar, but not identical. The differences concern fairly important features, such as battery capacity and camera specifications. For many users, these characteristics are crucial when choosing a smartphone.

However, it is worth starting with the phone dimensions, as there are differences here too. What are they? In physical terms, the “five” is slightly larger, but it is also as much as 0.5 mm thinner and 4 grams lighter. This means that the G5 fits better in the hand.

Display and processor

These two components determine the comfort of use, providing an image of suitable quality as well as smooth application loading and operation. Both devices use quad-core processors from the Qualcomm Snapdragon series, differing by only 0.15 GHz in clock speed. The graphics processor is identical in both: the Adreno 530.

In the LG G5, the display is 0.4 inches smaller and has a slightly lower pixel density. However, the difference is so small that most users will not notice it during everyday use.

The “five” for photography enthusiasts

The G5 has a significant advantage in terms of photography capabilities. This smartphone features a main camera with a 16 MP sensor, while the “six” has a 13 MP sensor. Both cameras also have a second sensor, which is slightly better in the G6. When comparing the two models, however, it can be concluded that the older model takes better photos, given that the other features, such as image stabilization and aperture brightness, are identical. The second, front-facing camera also has a higher resolution in the older smartphone.

Battery versus built-in accumulator

One of the significant differences between the two smartphone models is the type and capacity of the battery. The “five” has a removable 2800mAh battery, which by today’s standards is not an impressive specification. The other model operates longer on a single charge because the G6 has a 3300 mAh battery. However, it should be remembered that the battery in the “six” is fixed and non-removable. This means that if the battery in this device fails, it cannot be replaced independently—the repair requires a costly visit to a service center.

Both the LG G5 and G6 are equipped with fast charging, which significantly reduces the impact of the older model’s low battery capacity.

Other practical features

The G5 and G6 differ in many ways, but they also share many features. Both offer 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, and support for a microSD memory card of up to 2TB. Their data transmission features, sensors, and security measures are also similar. The price of the devices, on the other hand, is radically different, as the older model can be purchased for as much as PLN 1,000 less.
