The incident occurred a few minutes after 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of Jeleniogórska, Karola Miarki and Podgórna streets. The woman, a 55-year-old resident of Bielska Street, was returning from shopping. Witness statements indicate that the accident victim probably entered the roadway suddenly.

The 29-year-old truck driver was sober; however, as a precaution, the prosecutor ordered an additional blood sample to be taken for testing.

The police and prosecutor’s office are appealing for any potential witnesses to come forward. Their testimony may help establish the circumstances of the accident. At this stage of the investigation, it is not entirely clear who—whether the driver or the woman—violated the regulations.

Also on Wednesday, at around 8:00 a.m., a passenger car struck a 54-year-old woman at a pedestrian crossing near the courthouse. Fortunately, this time there was no tragedy. The injured woman, suffering from a serious chest injury, was taken to the Surgical Department.
