The First General Secondary School began celebrating its anniversary with an exhibition organized by the Museum of Ceramics. The exhibition featured sculptures by Marek Zyga, photographs by Janusz Moniatowicz, books by Grażyna Hanaf published by istotne.pl, and books by Iwona Banach.
The exhibition was complemented by an interesting presentation of memorabilia and paintings by Jolanta Ajlikow-Czarnecka, a deceased teacher at the school.
On Friday, in addition to the exhibition opening, an event titled “First General Secondary School Alumni – Guess Who?” was scheduled at the Old Theatre at 6:00 p.m. On stage, we heard memories shared by the school’s alumni. Kazimierz Sucharzewski spoke about the school’s beginnings, just after the war; Helena Tyrankiewicz called him the “mosquito count.” To this day, one of the first alumni of the school does not know what he owed this nickname to. Tomasz Niewodniczański described the times of the Polish People’s Republic, while Anna Bober-Tubaj spoke about the period after martial law.
The anniversary celebrations will last three days. The anniversary ceremony will be held in the assembly hall of the General Secondary School on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Alumni meetings with teachers, a tour of the school, and reminiscences are scheduled until 4:00 p.m. Registration for the reunion will begin at 9:00 a.m.
On Sunday, June 11, a Holy Mass is scheduled at the Marian Shrine at 12:30 p.m., followed by the laying of flowers on the graves of First General Secondary School teachers at the municipal cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
