The condition of the Nasze Zoo Görlitz-Zgorzelec fence is not the best: in some places, the fence is completely destroyed, while in others—after repeated break-ins—it has been provisionally “patched up”.

This will soon change, however. With a few minor alterations, the new fence will follow the same route as the existing one. It is also intended to prevent both animals—particularly foxes—from “breaking into” the park grounds and animals living at the zoo from escaping. “Besides that, we hope it will also make uninvited nighttime visits by two-legged creatures more difficult,” say employees of Nasze Zoo.

The fence will cost up to €285,000, of which the lion’s share (€235,000) comes from the construction fund of the Saxon State Office for Environment, Agriculture and Geology. The City of Görlitz will contribute the remainder.
