The competition covered two types of projects. The first was dedicated to historic buildings entered in the register maintained by the Voivodeship Conservator of Monuments in Wrocław. The second competition was addressed to cultural institutions, which, thanks to the funding, will have the opportunity to reconstruct and expand their facilities, equip them with new equipment necessary to develop their offerings, and acquire computer software facilitating internal management within the institution.

The largest grant, worth more than PLN 8 million, will go to Lwówek Śląski for the restoration of the defensive walls and the adjacent area. Nearly PLN 5 million (exactly PLN 4,906,430.57) will go to the Bolesławiec Marian Basilica for the “Conservation programme for urgent restoration works addressing the catastrophic condition of the façade, drainage and drying of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Nicholas.”

“Lower Silesia is the national record-holder when it comes to the number of historic monuments in Poland. The region’s needs for funding their revitalisation are very great. Support is crucial in this matter, including government support and a fair distribution of ministerial funds,” says Marshal Cezary Przybylski.
