Alina Obidniak, an actress and theatre director, met with residents of Bolesławiec on Thursday, October 16, at Galeria Format. The artist spoke, among other things, about her fascination with the texts of Cyprian Kamil Norwid. “He is the poet closest to me,” the artist emphasised. Referring to one of the author’s texts, “Promethidion,” she asked those gathered how one can turn one’s own life into a work of art. “Love is the greatest and most wonderful energy,” she said during Thursday’s meeting.

According to the director, striving for harmony is very important. It is a long-term process. “Every situation is an opportunity to experience life,” Obidniak stated. We should experience life consciously and attentively. “Actors have a great privilege—we must learn about ourselves and our bodies, and about the blocks we have,” the artist noted. “Such knowledge would be useful to every person,” she added.

Alina Obidniak also mentioned an autobiography that is to be published by the Jerzy Grotowski Institute. She worked on the book for seven months. In it, she describes, among other things, her meetings with great personalities, including Grotowski, Janusz Degler, Krystian Lupa and Henryk Skolimowski.

How can one gain wisdom in life? “It is important that we know how to seek out people in our lives who are similarly sensitive—people who are close to us in the way they perceive the world,” Alina Obidniak told IstotneInformacje.pl. When we find them, we simultaneously discover optimism in life and give it meaning. “My role is to prick people’s sensitivity and make everyone aware that there is a bright side within them,” she added.

For seven years, the director ran the Self-Development Laboratory. During that time, she organised 1,250 ecological workshops in more than one hundred schools. She taught meditation and calming techniques. “These activities were intended to open people to a new sensitivity and a new awareness; to open themselves to everything around them while simultaneously feeling that they are one with the universe,” Obidniak explained. “This is my philosophy of life: a philosophy of building and respect for people and all living beings.” There is a chance that the artist will organise such workshops in Bolesławiec.
