The accident occurred on National Road 4. Just beyond Tomaszów Bolesławiecki, the driver of an Iveco pulled over onto the shoulder to change a wheel. He properly marked the location with a warning triangle. First, two BMWs attempted to pass him. However, the driver of the second car failed to exercise caution and crashed into the rear of the first vehicle. Almost at the same time, a truck with a trailer arrived at the scene of the collision. The truck driver wanted to avoid the collision site and then collided head-on with a Fiat Doblo traveling correctly in its lane.
The Fiat driver was seriously injured and taken to hospital. His injuries were caused by the leaf spring he was carrying. In the collision with the truck, the leaf spring struck his seat. The driver will probably have problems with his spine and pelvis.
