Let us recall that in 2013, a group of enthusiasts and community activists decided to organize the “Tropem Wilczym. Bieg Pamięci Żołnierzy Wyklętych” in a forest near the Zegrze Reservoir, thereby preserving the memory of the fallen heroes.

The first edition of the run had a survival character, with 50 participants taking part. A year later, thanks to the great commitment of people from Fundacja Wolność i Demokracja, which still organizes it today, the run began to gain momentum. Since 2015, it has been a nationwide event and has become a permanent fixture in the running calendar. Last year, the event attracted 40,000 participants from 160 cities across Poland, as well as from New York, Chicago, London, Vilnius, Hrodna, Lida, Zhytomyr and Zdolbuniv.

The symbolic 1,963-metre run refers to the year in which the last Cursed Soldier, Józef Franczak, code-named Lalek, was killed.
