The Bolesławiec band Error Code consists of metal veterans who, in the 1990s, played in bands such as Creeping Death, STD, Side Effect and the death-metal band Infest. With these groups, they had the opportunity to support rock acts (O.N.A, Sweet Noise) and metal bands (Acid Drinkers, Flapjack). “Over time, it faded away—work and family, you know,” says bassist Dariusz „Komuna” Brzuszkiewicz.
They got back together five years ago, and Error Code was formed. At first, the band played very melodic metal. Someone even compared their music to the popular band Coma. The lineup changed in 2014. That was when the musicians, as they put it, switched to the dark side of the Force. They simply began playing what they love and grew up with—thrash metal. “We all come from bands that played really heavy music, so we did not have to think about the direction. It came completely naturally,” explains Tomasz „Góral” Górecki, Error Code’s guitarist.
The band has a four-track demo titled simply “2016” to its name, as well as plenty of concerts. They have played in Żagań, Szczecin, Gubin, at Grodziec Castle and in Bolesławiec. However, they had to organize the performances in their home city themselves. “There is nowhere in Bolesławiec to play rock concerts,” Komuna states. “We played at Envy thanks to the club owner’s support, but we had to arrange the sound equipment ourselves,” he adds. Fortunately, soon, on Saturday, November 26, they can be heard at Bolesławiec’s Old Theatre, where another edition of the Hard Core Festival will take place. EC will play in the final part of the event, alongside bands such as Holograust and Omni mOdO. As Góral announces, the audience can expect approximately 30 minutes of “solid, energetic metal music.” There will also be a surprise.
The Bolesławiec thrash-metal musicians are not driven by a desire for a career. “When your life is relatively stable, you approach certain things differently, with greater distance. We are not focused on a career, because there will not be one, but on playing and creating music,” Góral emphasizes. “It is simply a great escape from everyday life and our passion,” adds Krzysztof „Kriss” Wołoszyn, Error Code’s drummer.
