Snow began falling as early as Sunday. In the higher mountain areas, the temperature dropped to -4°C, while in the foothill towns the mercury is showing 0 degrees. The mountains are covered with a layer of snow several centimetres thick. In places, there are snowdrifts half a metre deep.

Due to the difficult weather conditions, GOPR is warning tourists about icy trails. Despite the below-zero temperatures and falling snow, conditions are not yet favourable for skiing or sledding. Hiking in the mountains remains an option. In this case, it is worth considering warm clothing.
