Gliniada has a chance to become a permanent part of our city’s traditions. More than one hundred people took part in the second edition of the parade celebrating love of clay. From 10:00, anyone interested could cover themselves in clay at several locations around the city.
The event was held under the patronage of the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The District Office also supported the event. What is more, District Head Cezary Przybylski and Dariusz Kwaśniewski, a member of the Bolesławiec District Board, actively participated in Gliniada (both covered themselves in clay).
One of this year’s most important Gliniada events was— for the first time in history!—the real wedding of two Glinoluds. The parade participants got married at the Registry Office. The ceremony began after 12:00. Magdalena Drążkiewicz and Marcin Lewandowski entered into marriage. The historic wedding was covered by Poland’s largest national media outlets, including TVP, Polsat and TVN 24.
The Glinoluds’ procession set off from Zamkowy Square. The clay figures marched along Karpecka and Prusa Streets. The parade participants circled the town hall and stopped outside the Bolesławiec District Office.
The youngest participant in the clay parade was Piotruś Siarkowski (5), who dressed up as Zbyszko of Bogdaniec. The oldest Glinolud was Mr Rajmund, a 68-year-old ceramic artist. Ewa from Osiecznica was chosen as the queen of the second Gliniada, while Ludwik from Nowe Jaroszowice became king. The royal couple’s prize was a helicopter flight over Bolesławiec.
IstotneInformacje.pl served as the event’s media patron.
Photography competition
Anyone who uploads photos from Gliniada to our Gallery, in the Gliniada 2008 section, will take part in the competition. Directories containing photographs should be named with the participant’s nickname.

A few words from the organizers of Gliniada 2008. We would like to thank everyone who devoted an enormous amount of effort, time and money to making Gliniada 2008 happen and ensuring its success. We thank Gliniada’s guiding spirit, Bogdan Nowak. Special thanks must also go to Radek Iwicki, who worked hard on building the www.gliniada.org website. We also warmly thank the newlyweds—Magda and Marcin—for agreeing that such an important ceremony for them could also become part of our show. We are grateful to the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Mr Marek Łapiński, for granting Gliniada honorary patronage. The District Office was also a patron of the event, providing not only financial assistance but also substantial technical and organizational support—we thank Renata Czerwińska and Majka Nowak for this. Special words of thanks also go to the artists who performed at our concerts without accepting a fee: Das Wűrttemberg Musikkorps from Stuttgart, Tomasz Wachnowski and the all4Band group. We sincerely thank Krzysiu Gwizdała and his www.istotneinformacje.pl portal for the media patronage.
