The incident occurred in the evening in Warta Bolesławiecka. A fire broke out in a huge chicken house. Approximately 15,000 chickens died from the smoke.
Fourteen fire service units fought the blaze. “I do not know how the fire could have started. The electrical system is new and in working order. I also do not think that someone deliberately set fire to the chicken house,” the farm owner, Franciszek Kindzierski, told Boleslawiec.org.
The firefighters faced a difficult task because the fire was spreading through the space between the ceilings. In addition, there was a lot of smoke, and it was also difficult to reach some areas of the chicken house. The fire was extinguished after several hours.
The farm owner estimates the losses at up to half a million zlotys.
