On 1 and 2 March, the fourth congress of the Lower Silesian Federation of Young Social Democrats was held in Lubawka, where the region’s new leadership was elected. Joanna Wróbel from Wrocław was re-elected chair, while Marta Przeworska from Lubin became secretary. Two of the three Lower Silesian deputy chair positions went to representatives of Bolesławiec – Michał Banaś and Daniel Biernat. The third was given to Bartosz Jeziorski from Złotoryja.

The members of the Voivodeship Audit Committee were also elected; Paweł Zieliński will represent our city on it, along with the members of the Voivodeship Peer Court. Bolesławiec resident Krzysztof Laskowski will sit on the latter.

The FMS county branch in Bolesławiec is the second-largest social-democratic youth organization in the voivodeship, after the Wrocław branch. Five delegates represented our city at the congress in Lubawka (Magdalena Herdzik and the activists named above). Thanks to such a strong organization, Bolesławiec residents will now have a very significant influence on the Federation’s policy in the voivodeship.

The congress included serious programmatic discussions. The Federation’s position on current political events and the direction of its work for the entire term were established. Participants could also take part in discussion panels with Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Jerzy Szmajdziński, chair of the Lower Silesian Council of the Democratic Left Alliance and Member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Janusz Krason, and deputy head of Kamienna Góra County Andrzej Świątek.
