During the Lower Silesian Youth Sports Gala, held on February 25 in Jelenia Góra, Lower Silesian sports clubs and municipalities that achieved the best results in children's and youth sports competition in 2007 were honored. The winners were selected on the basis of a ranking compiled by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism.
Outstanding athletes, coaches and sports officials from our voivodeship were also honored during the gala. The Crosses of Merit were awarded to: Jerzy Binkowski, Dariusz Zelig and Dariusz Kowalczyk, while the "For Merits to Sport" distinctions went to: Grażyna Malczuk, Marek Przeorski, Eugeniusz Sroka, Arkadiusza Rzepka and Wojciech Lara.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Grzegorz Schetyna, Piotr Borys, a member of the Board of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, representatives of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, Lower Silesian Members of Parliament and senators, regional councillors, as well as local government authorities from the honored municipalities.
The voivodeship board allocated nearly PLN 550,000 to co-finance 66 Lower Silesian clubs that achieved the best results in their respective disciplines. MKS Bolesłavia was also among them, as the only club from Bolesławiec. The club will receive PLN 3,000.
