They announced that they would not give up their title as the best team, and that is exactly what happened. The Defending Champions team (Agnieszka Calów, Aleksandra Forys, Paweł Wilas and Grzegorz Baszczyj) significantly outpaced its competitors. The champions finished assembling the picture at 9:50 p.m. “We feel pleased and satisfied,” says team captain Paweł Wilas. “We hoped to finish in the top three, but we managed to take first place,” he adds, noting at the same time that it was more difficult last year.
Second place—also not by chance—went to the women of Dream Team, winners of the marathon’s first edition. The runners-up competed as Weronika Pawlikowska, Teresa Mularczyk, Edyta Pawlikowska and Brygida Laudani. They finished assembling the puzzle at 11:35 p.m.
The Big Team came third, competing with Agnieszka Kołodziej, Bożena Wieczorek, Magdalena Sulik and Karolina Wieczorek.
A real surprise for many was the participation of a team made up of the creators of two Bolesławiec-based portals: Bolec.info and Boleslawiec.org. Working together, the team finished assembling the picture at around 2:15 a.m., taking fifth place.
“I dreamed up this event,” says Beata Widera of the Gminny Ośrodek Kultury i Sportu w Bolesławcu z/s w Kruszynie, the competition’s originator and organizer, speaking about the marathon’s beginnings. In that dream, the competition was admittedly on a larger scale. However, as the organizer admits, there was no shortage of people willing to take part in this year’s puzzle competition. “Many people around me love puzzles. There are a great many puzzle enthusiasts in Bolesławiec County,” adds Beata Widera.
Before the competition, Oli Sobańska and Adrian Ciechanowski from the Wrocław-based Salsamania group performed a dance show. During the marathon, participants could also face chess champion Jan Zatylny at the chessboard.
Eleven teams from across Bolesławiec County took part in the 3rd “MAUPa” Puzzle Marathon. The competition was held on February 23 in the GOKiS hall in Kruszyn. The event ended at around 3:00 a.m. Boleslawiec.org was the event’s media patron.
