Last year, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the European Union. We will soon celebrate the 50th anniversary of the European Parliament—on March 19! On this occasion, Lidia Geringer de Oedenberg, a Member of the European Parliament, will once again, as she did last year, fund a trip to Strasbourg for another group of fifty-year-olds, to the city where the first parliamentary proceedings were held.

Fifty years ago, on March 19, 1958, the European Parliamentary Assembly was established in Strasbourg; it later became the European Parliament. For the first time, deputies’ proceedings were held according to political affiliation rather than nationality. For the European Parliament, March 19 is a major celebration.

On this occasion, MEP Lidia Geringer de Oedenberg invites people born on March 19, 1958, to Strasbourg for a four-day parliamentary visit. Peers of the European Parliament are asked to send their applications—with documented birth dates—by March 19 to Lidia Geringer de Oedenberg’s parliamentary office in Wrocław (Rynek 7, Pasaż pod Błękitnym Słońcem, 50-106 Wrocław, tel./fax 071 323 08 21, email: lidiageringer@neostrada.pl).
