Announced by the Gminny Cultural and Sports Centre in Bolesławiec, based in Kruszyn, the “Letter” literary competition aimed to save from oblivion the art of letter writing, which is fading in the Internet age, and to develop imagination and the ability to express oneself freely. This year’s edition of the competition proved to be a great success. The number of entries sent to the GOKiS address surprised the organisers themselves. More than 300 letters arrived, and not only from Poland. One of the competition entries arrived... all the way from Ukraine.

The competition jury selected winners in three age categories. In the 10–12 age category, the winners were:

  1. Kinga Kraczkowska from Trzebień
  2. Beata Cieśla from Brzeźnik
  3. Eunika Legoń from Zakopane.

The jury also decided to honour Adela Mędoń from Biały Dunajec and Justyna Orłowska from Dąbrowa.

In the 13–15 age category, the winners were:

  1. Natalia Balasa from Chotowa (Public Lower Secondary School in Chotowa)
  2. Szymon Józkowicz from Maków
  3. Paulina Szewczenko from Dąbrowa (Municipal Lower Secondary School No. 3 in Bolesławiec), jointly with Adrianna Piasecka from Bolesławiec (Municipal Lower Secondary School No. 2 in Bolesławiec).

In the 16-and-over category, awards will go to:

  1. Krystyna Karwat from Lublin
  2. Stanisława Wojciechowska-Soja from Malbork
  3. Robert Pajura from Gdynia.

Additionally, the jury awarded an honourable mention to Barbara Pankowska from Bolesławiec.

At the same time, on behalf of the organisers, we would like to invite everyone – especially those who took part in the competition – to the award ceremony, which will take place on 27 November (Tuesday) at Piwnica Paryska. The ceremony will begin with a sung-poetry concert. A delicious refreshment will be served after the awards ceremony. It starts at 5:00 p.m. Admission is free!

The Boleslawiec.org portal is the only online media patron of this year’s edition of the competition. We will soon publish the winning letters and a report from Tuesday’s ceremony.
