– The most important thing for me is to encourage people, so that before they travel to Egypt, Greece or the Canary Islands, they see how rich our land is in attractions and history – says Abramowicz. – We have a beautiful past and wonderful mysteries, as well as the fascinating and dramatic stories of the nations that have lived on this land. It is worth knowing about this and worth talking about it.
For many years, Zdzisław Abramowicz produced his historical programs for local television in Bolesławiec. Thanks to a cooperation proposal from Telewizja Lubań Bolesławiec, he was able to reach a wider audience. – The program on Bolesławiec’s cable television reaches a small group of people because that station has limited coverage – says the history enthusiast. – The program “Discovering History” on Azart-Sat television focuses mainly on Bolesławiec County and the town itself. TLB makes it possible to produce programs about Lwówek, Zgorzelec, Pieńsk, Lubań and Henryków, about the entire region. These are completely different topics, a different scale and a broader scope.
Abramowicz emphasizes that TLB gives him the opportunity to reach more people. Thanks to a different format, he also has more influence on the program’s final shape at this station. – It is simply a different convention – says the historian.
Ambramowicz has been involved in the television production of historical programs for seven years. He produced the first two episodes of the “Discovering History” series at the local Bolesławiec television station together with Katarzyna Biegasiewicz. He later co-created the program with Izabela Jurasik. The editor-in-chief who decided to launch production of the series at the local television station was Bernard Łętowski. – Kasia Biegasiewicz also works for Telewizja Lubań Bolesławiec today; history has come full circle – says Abramowicz.
The former councilor and commander of the Bolesławiec ZHP troop also contributes historical features to Expres Bolesławiecki. Together with Mariusz Olczak, he wrote six historical guides to the region’s municipalities. By education, he is a theologian and teacher.
