Information about the construction of a factory near Bolesławiec emerged before the 2006 presidential election. Some media even reported that an agreement with the corporation had already been signed, and that the mayor could not say anything about it because he had signed a confidentiality clause. At the time, the Boleslawiec.org portal pointed out that JVC had not confirmed these revelations at all.

The spell of the pre-election fairy tale was broken when, at the last Thursday press conference, we asked the mayor directly: what about JVC? It turned out that there would be no factory. We then asked about the agreement. We were told that there had been no agreement. Why did the City Hall or the mayor not correct the information about a signed agreement published by the media in 2006? The mayor’s spokesperson surprised journalists with her answer—she replied that she “had not seen that and was seeing such information for the first time.” The mayor added that he had not been entitled to respond directly.

The information about the signed agreement was published in 2006 by the editorial office of “Express Bolesławiecki” (that is, Wrocławska Fabryka Prasowa, which the city authorities pay for various publications) and by Katarzyna Bodzioch’s portal for middle-school students, on which the mayor wrote posts before the election. This information has still not been corrected.

Update 2007-10-30 13:26

A Boleslawiec.org journalist obtained a pre-election interview with Piotr Roman in which he spoke of “the recruitment of employees already under way” for an electronics company. The interview was published by the newspaper “Express Bolesławiecki,” which our municipality, represented by Piotr Roman himself, pays every month to print information. At the time, the interview was given the ambiguous heading “information/advertisement.”
