In June, after years of waiting, Bolesławiec Taekwondo coaches took further examinations. Two instructors, Jacek Radwański and Marek Marzec, as well as one athlete, Norbert Dziekoń, earned higher master ranks.

The coaches passed the fourth dan examination, while the athlete earned his first dan. Jacek Radwański and Marek Marzec had to wait as long as three years before they could take the fourth-degree examination. Now they must wait four years before applying for the fifth master rank. The examinations are not easy—of the 28 people applying for the first dan, only 10 passed. The others will have to wait six months for the next examination.

On Friday, June 18, as many as 47 athletes from the Bolesławiec Taekwon-Do ITF Club passed examinations for student ranks.

Taekwondo is a sport created by combining the ancient Korean martial art tae kyon with karate. The sport is practiced in two forms: under the patronage of the International Taekwondo Federation (ITF), founded in 1966, in four disciplines—patterns, special techniques, power breaking and sparring—and under the patronage of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), founded in 1974, in two disciplines—patterns and sparring.
