Back in November 2006, before the local elections, the councillor declared that money was not his motivation. He promised to donate his councillor’s allowance to children in need. At the time, he admitted that he wanted to restore people’s faith in politicians’ selflessness and sincere intentions.
A few days ago, Dominik Chodyra presented information about a scholarship programme. He announced that it had been launched in connection with the 7th Papal Day and was the result of an agreement between the “Klub Aloha” association, in which the councillor’s brothers are active, and Chodyra himself. The scholarships will be financed from the councillor’s allowance and awarded twice a year by a special committee.
Asked by Boleslawiec.org whether he had provided anyone with financial support since the elections, Dominik Chodyra answered in the affirmative. Nevertheless, we received no answer to questions about who received the assistance or the amount donated by the councillor.
Under the regulations, financial assistance may be sought by exceptionally talented lower-secondary school students who live in Bolesławiec and are in a particularly difficult financial situation. Scholarships will be awarded in the following categories: humanities, exact sciences, art and sport.
In each edition of the programme—that is, once every six months—the committee will have a pool of ten scholarships at its disposal: three for the humanities, three for the exact sciences, two in the field of art and two for sporting achievements. Each scholarship, worth PLN 500, will be paid to talented lower-secondary school students in a convenient manner consistent with the regulations.
