Confusion continues surrounding the BKS Bobrzanie Bolesławiec sports club. The club’s former president, Damian Sawczak, issued a statement correcting another statement in which, in his view, he was accused of improperly settling the accounts for a summer sports tournament. I, the undersigned Damian Sawczak, declare that, due to the lies and accusations contained in the statement issued by the new board of BKS Bobrzanie Bolesławiec (the former Bobrzanie board), I hereby inform you as follows:
I did not cling to the position of club president, so I resigned from it on 21 August 2007, while I remained active on the board only until the tournament accounts had been settled.
Until my resignation, I conscientiously fulfilled all the duties imposed on me by the voluntary position of president of BKS Bobrzanie Bolesławiec. Despite the misleading information that I had evaded settling the tournament accounts, I inform you that approximately three weeks ago the tournament’s accounting records were handed over to the board, which, looking for irregularities, passed the documents to various accountants for review and, as far as I know, found nothing because there was nothing to find. The tournament ended with a positive balance; I would add that thanks to the money raised for the tournament, the club entered the competition and the transfers of the first team were paid for. I also state that I personally incurred considerable costs connected with the tournament as well as with the club’s activities in the city, and it never occurred to me to derive any financial benefit from this. As the outgoing president, I handed over the accounts for the two-month period of my activity. As for the irresponsible behavior during the tournament, I assume that I was too reckless in wanting to do something significant for sport in our city. I do not evade responsibility for my mistakes, but I emphasize that, thanks to this experience, every subsequent event would have been considerably better. The people who are accusing me today of irresponsible behavior did nothing to ensure that this tournament could be held to an appropriately high standard, explaining themselves by claiming a complete lack of information. The idea for the tournament had already emerged the previous year under the auspices of Bobrzanie, as evidenced by a separate account opened by the president of Bobrzanie specifically for this tournament, and the only people who helped with the CERAMIKA Cup were Mr. Baranowski and Mr. Spraski. I want to emphasize that this statement is not intended as an attack on the club, whose structures I myself began to build, but only on the misrepresentations concerning me. I personally deeply regret that my name has been dragged through the mud, which greatly discourages me and saps my enthusiasm for any kind of community activity in this city.
A week ago, the BKS Bolesławiec board issued a statement informing that Damian Sawczak and Dariusz Wojtowicz had been removed from their positions as president and vice-president of BKS Bobrzanie Bolesławiec. The alleged reasons for their removal were irresponsible behavior during the organization of the Ceramika Cup tournament, failure to perform their duties, and evading the settlement of the August tournament accounts.
The board’s statement also said that Damian Sawczak and Dariusz Wojtowicz had been expelled from the club.
