26-year-old Bolesławiec resident Tomasz G. was charged with abusing his common-law partner, Katarzyna P., in an exceptionally cruel manner from August 2005 to 19 March 2007. Tomasz G. and Katarzyna P. had been in a relationship since 2002. They had two children.

They lived together. The defendant abused alcohol and started drunken brawls. He punched the victim in the face and kicked her all over her body. His behavior was driven by pathological jealousy. While Tomasz G. was in prison, until June 2005, Katarzyna P. became involved with another man.

The real drama, however, unfolded on 19 March of that year. The defendant returned home in the evening. He was completely drunk. Without saying a word, he approached his partner and struck her in the face. Wanting to avoid another beating, the woman grabbed the older child and ran into the hallway. She began calling for help. Tomasz G. dragged her back into the apartment and threw her onto the bed, then took a drill from a suitcase and struck his partner in the head with it.

The Bolesławiec man's brutal attack did not end there. When the drill fell from his hand, he reached for a knife and stabbed the woman repeatedly. That weapon also slipped from his hand. The enraged man then grabbed a fork and drove it into his partner's neck.

Two neighbors who heard Katarzyna P.'s screams came to her aid. Thanks to them, the woman got out into the hallway. Tomasz G., consumed by rage, rushed after her and pushed her so hard that she fell onto the stairs. After noticing the neighbors, the man returned to the apartment. He was arrested there by the police.

Tomasz G. pleaded guilty to the offense with which he was charged, but refused to give an explanation. On 6 September 2007, the District Court in Bolesławiec found him guilty. The Bolesławiec resident faces five years in prison.
