The accident occurred overnight from Saturday to Sunday at an unguarded railway crossing on Cieszkowskiego Street. For unknown reasons, a truck travelling towards Wrocław ended up in front of the train, which was heading towards the fuel depot. The train stopped only several dozen metres after the collision. A man died at the scene; before the train crossed the road, he had got out of the truck and was apparently going to stop the approaching cars.
