Ewelina is 16 years old. She has just graduated from a middle school in Bolesławiec. She is interested in sports and music. As she admits, she does not follow any particular diet. She eats whatever she feels like. A friend of her mother’s persuaded the teenager to enter the beauty pageant. The 16-year-old decided to try her luck. She went to a casting in Legnica. There, photographer Arkadiusz Maciuszek noticed her beauty. He entered Ewelina in the Miss Ziemi Dolnośląskiej competition and... the Bolesławiec resident won the title of first runner-up.
The title she won gives her the opportunity to take part in the Miss Polski Nastolatek semi-final, which will begin on 16 July in Szczyrk. Sixty teenagers will compete at this stage, half of whom will be eliminated. The semi-finalists of both beauty pageants—Miss Polski and Miss Nastolatek—were selected from among 600 girls from across the country. Unofficially, it is said that Ewelina has a good chance of qualifying for the final, which will take place in September and will be broadcast by one of the largest nationwide television stations.
Ewelina remembers the previous stages of the competition fondly. “There was no rivalry; all the girls liked one another. They approached the competition with a sense of detachment,” says the first runner-up of Miss Ziemi Dolnośląskiej. At first, of course, she was nervous. It was her first time taking part in this type of competition. Nevertheless, the friendly atmosphere among the participants meant that she quickly forgot about the stress. The beautiful teenager was only worried that she did not smile enough.
Ewelina Dębska admits that she has received only positive reactions from her acquaintances. “So far, everyone has been sending SMS messages and keeping their fingers crossed for me,” adds the 16-year-old. Until 20 July (when the semi-final results will be announced), Internet users can vote for Miss Nastolatek Internetu 2007. The editorial staff of Bolesławiec.org is also keeping its fingers crossed for the Bolesławiec resident’s performance in the semi-final and encourages readers to visit the Miss Polski website and support Ewelina by SMS.
