The march was organised by the community of Gimnazjum Samorządowe nr 2 together with the Bolesławiec branch of the Union of Siberians. The event commemorated Poles who, over the centuries, were deported to Siberia, where they suffered and died from hunger, cold and forced labour.
On the 76th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s invasion of Poland, wreaths and flowers were laid at the Bolesławiec municipal cemetery, beneath the monument “In Tribute to the Polish Martyrs of Siberia and Those Murdered in Katyń and the Gulags”, and the tragic fate of Poles was recalled.
The March of Living Remembrance of Siberian Exiles was held in Bolesławiec for the sixth time. The ceremony took place with the participation of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment. It was attended by representatives of local authorities, delegations from associations and institutions, students and teachers.
