Officers detained four examiners and a technical employee of the Provincial Road Traffic Centre in Jelenia Góra on charges of accepting financial benefits and acting as intermediaries in passing bribes in exchange for a positive driving test result.

Police established that, since 2004, the detained examiners had accepted bribes in various amounts, averaging PLN 800, while the technical employee accepted money from candidates and passed it on to the examiners. All of them were charged with accepting financial benefits, for which they face up to 8 years in prison.

These are the latest people detained in the corruption scandal at the Provincial Road Traffic Centre in Jelenia Góra. So far, two driving instructors have been arrested in the case, and a dozen or so people have been charged. The proceedings are being conducted by the Investigative and Criminal Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra.
