Traffic lights at the intersection on Tysiąclecia are not working, and it will get even worse

We asked the Lower Silesian Roads and Railway Service why it was taking so long. Leszek Loch, director of DSDIK, informed us that four traffic-light systems are being modernized in Bolesławiec:

• along voivodeship road no. 363, at the intersection of al. Tysiąclecia and ul. Spółdzielcza
• along voivodeship road no. 297, at the intersection of Jeleniogórska and Podgórna
• along voivodeship road no. 297, at the Tamka–Grunwaldzka–Staszica and Tamka–Kościuszki intersections
• along voivodeship road no. 297, at the Zgorzelecka–Wesoła intersection.

– The basic premise of carrying out the investment is to modernize all the intersections listed above by adapting the traffic-light programs to current traffic measurements and applicable regulations, together with the necessary construction and electrical works, explains the head of DSDIK. – The works at the intersection of al. Tysiąclecia and ul. Spółdzielcza are being carried out on a larger scale than at the other intersections. It was necessary to replace the entire pole structure with an arm at the ul. Spółdzielcza approach, as well as replace three arms at the other approaches. In addition, excavation works related to the modernization of the cable duct system had to be carried out.

As Leszek Loch emphasizes, the scope of works at the other intersections is smaller and less disruptive for pedestrians and drivers, because excavation works are often carried out in green areas.

When will this investment be completed? – At present, the works are proceeding according to schedule, and the expected completion date, in accordance with the contract, is June 30, 2016, and is not at risk, assures the head of DSDIK. But he immediately adds: – However, due to planned roadworks involving the replacement of the road surface at the Zgorzelecka–Wesoła intersection, carried out under a different scope of works and a separate contract, there is a risk that the final horizontal road markings may be completed after June 30, 2016.

It appears that in the near future drivers may expect disruptions at all the intersections listed above. We will return to the subject.
