The competition is intended for students in grades 4–6 of primary school. This year’s event was attended by eighteen participants from Bolesławiec County. The jury, consisting of Maria Sobolska, Urszula Frąszczak-Matyjewicz, Katarzyna Pranić and Helena Adamczewska, awarded two main prizes. First prize went to Filip Pająk for his excellent interpretation of “The Dream Client” by Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński. The second was awarded to Karolina Błotna, who presented Ludwik Jerzy Kern’s poem entitled “Mr. Tiger.” Both will represent our county in the next stage of the competition, which will be held on 17 April in Kłodzko.
The jury also awarded five equal distinctions. The distinctions went to: Michał Szemiot, Michał Marchlewicz, Mariusz Borowski, Daria Ciach and Julia Maśnicka. The talented young participants most often chose works by Jan Brzechwa, although poems by Poland’s greatest poets—Adam Mickiewicz, Julian Tuwim and Father Jan Twardowski—were also included. Paula Kalwarska and Daniel Jaszczak, meanwhile, presented their own interpretations of texts by Ryszard Adam Gruchawka, a Silesian lumberjack and poet, and the author of, among other works, children’s fairy tales.
