In 2015 and 2016, the 70th anniversary fell of the expulsion of Poles from the former eastern territories of the Second Polish Republic, which in 1945 were incorporated into the USSR. Due to PRL propaganda, the dramatic circumstances accompanying the departure of Poles from hundreds of towns and villages in the Eastern Borderlands are still euphemistically called “repatriation” today.
The presentation by Tomasz Kuba Kozłowski will recall those events, the traumatic experiences of thousands of people expelled from their homes, and the struggle to preserve priceless monuments of Polish culture. The meeting accompanies the popular-science conference “We Arrived, We Are Here, We Will Stay – 70 Years of Settlement in Bolesławiec County, 1946–2016.”
The meeting with T.K. Kozłowski will take place on 1 April (Friday) at the County Office at Piłsudski Square (the round building). It begins at 5:00 p.m.. Admission is free.
