For MZK, it ranges from PLN 240,000 to PLN 300,000, depending on the basis used for the estimates. This is the estimated cost incurred by MZK when it does not charge fares on that day.

In accordance with the councillors’ decision, on the first day of every month passengers do not need to carry a valid ticket, and the total value of these exemptions amounts to this sum annually. The difference in the estimates results, among other things, from the fact that someone who buys a monthly ticket only on the second day of the month still pays the full amount. On the other hand, a monthly ticket is nevertheless a type of discounted ticket (compared with the price of a single journey), so these losses cannot be estimated precisely. But either way, more than PLN 200,000 has to be covered.

Moreover, the source of this additional funding is the City budget, so ultimately—according to the Council’s wishes—everyone contributes for the benefit of some.
